Moulay Bouzertoune BeachTHE MYTHIC SPOT OF ESSOUIRA - MOULAY BOUZERTOUNE WILL WELCOME THE NEXT WINDSURF PWA WORLD CUP
A stage of the Windsurf World Cup PWA (Professional Windsurfers Association) will take place in Essaouira - Moulay Bouzerktoune from March 27 to April 7, 2018. This competition makes it possible to determine each year the ranking of the best riders in the world on stages from Tenerife Gran Canaria in Spain, Sylt in Germany to Maui in Hawaii (USA). For the first time in Africa, a double world competition is organized: the Moroccan stage of the PWA World Cup and the qualifying stage of the IWT (International Windsurfing Tour). Following the great success of the first two editions in 2016 and 2017, the competition keeps the stage of the IWT open to amateurs, to make it a major event where meet the greatest national and international athletes.
More than 120 riders from around the world are expected for this 2018 edition. Among them Moroccan ambassador Boujmaa Guilloul, he holds the world record for the highest jump in the history of Windsurf at 20 meters height in 2012 and he is the first African windsurfer to win the International Windsurf Tour in 2016. The reigning champion is an actor committed to developing his favorite sport in Morocco and promoting his country abroad where he regularly has the opportunity to proudly raise the national flag on the podiums.
At 175 km from Marrakech, on the Atlantic coast, the spot of Essaouira-Moulay Bouzerktoune is a must-see destination for amateur and experienced windsurfers. Thanks to the extraordinary weather conditions and world-class waves of Morocco, the first edition of the Morocco Windsurf World Cup promises great moments of skiing.
